Quote of the day 22nd January 2021

"Some things are believed because they are demonstrably true.

But many other things are believed simply because they have been asserted repeatedly—and repetition has been accepted as a substitute for evidence."

(Thomas Sowell, American economist)

I removed from this page a childish insult for which I would have rebuked my son or daughter as unworthy of them if I had caught either posting such a thing when they were ten years old.

I don't usually bother to respond to that kind of comment but today I'll make an exception.

I appreciate that people may be bored and depressed stuck at home due to the pandemic, but if the truth were known this sort of puerile nonsense has been posted here throughout the sixteen years this blog has been in existence.

Constructive comments here are welcome whether I agree with them or not, but I wonder if the people who have nothing better to do than post kindergarten insults understand how much it makes them look like people who desperately need to get a life?

Perhaps the fact that such insults are almost invariably posted anonymously means that the authors know what it would do to any respect in which they are held if they were open about who was posting this stuff.

If so it should be a pointer that they probably need to think about finding something more useful to do with their time.
