Boris praises Britain's young people

The Prime Minister has paid tribute to the young people of Britain for their incredible resilience during the pandemic and has vowed to ensure the pandemic will not put a limit to what they can achieve.

  • The young people of this country have made an immense sacrifice in order to do their bit to overcome a virus, which in truth, seldom poses a lethal threat to them, and they have shouldered this burden willingly and with great resilience.

  • Our national priority after saving lives and protecting the NHS must to get young people back into education as soon as caution allows, but until then, the government aims to ensure no one is left behind – from investing £1.3 billion in catch-up support, providing an extra £50 million to support university students facing financial pressure to appointing a Youth Mental Ambassador to help us support their mental health and wellbeing.

  • The compassion and forbearance of the youth of Britain has made us all proud, and now we must do our best to ensure their dreams are no longer deferred and make sure there are no limits to what they can achieve.
