BBC mid-term review
Today the government is publishing the BBC's Mid-Term Review which includes reforms to the impartiality and complaints system, boosting public trust and safeguarding the long-term future of the broadcaster.
- The BBC is a treasured institution and we must ensure that the public continue to have confidence in our national broadcasting service. That is why we are announcing reforms to the BBC’s impartiality and complaints system so that viewers have more certainty that their complaints about BBC content – including concerns about bias – are dealt with fairly.
- In a rapidly changing media landscape, the BBC needs to adapt or risk losing the trust of the audiences it relies on. The Conservative government is taking the difficult decisions to ensure the long-term future of the BBC as a strong and independent broadcaster, improving accountability and boosting public confidence in the BBC’s impartiality so it can retain its role as world-leading broadcasting service.
