Modernising the civil service

Today, John Glen, the Minister for the Cabinet Office, outlines his long-term priorities to modernise the Civil Service, making the institution more productive in the long term so that it can deliver stronger public services for years to come.

  • The Civil Service and the work it does impacts all of our lives in so many ways, so we must ensure it is fit for purpose in the long term. That is why we must embrace new technology, empower those around us by working collaboratively in offices and enable line managers to provide the best possible feedback and tackle consistent poor performance.
  • These steps will ensure the Civil Service delivers strong public services in the long term so that people across the UK have access to the best possible services and taxpayer money is being used to fund the most efficient institution.
