They say that death and taxation are the only two certainties in life. I would say that only one of those is essential.

So here would be my quote of the day:

Yes. you're quite correct, I should have wished everyone a happy St Georges' day but was dashing around Cumbria like a mad thing and forget until it was too late.

And it says something about how certain parts of society are embarrassed by St Georges' day that it is possible to forget. You could not possible miss St Patrick's Day in Ireland or St Andrew's day in Scotland, and that is not a criticism of Ireland or Scotland.
