Birmingham Conference Diary - Osborne reiterates support for Nuclear Power

During a powerful and wide-ranging speech today (of which more later) the Chancellor George Osborne gave a whole series of examples of how the people who built our modern Britain would have made the brave decisions which chose the future over the past.

One of the things he singled out was the need for a new generation of nuclear power stations.

He also spoke about the need, without reducing the engine of growth which is London, to build more growth in the rest of the country, and build a "Northern Powerhouse" connecting our great Northern cities.

Another top tip, you know that union flag logo they are using, well that would look better with a statement from the leadership about campaigning for EU exit should the "renegotiation" fail to deliver.

oh...also a good idea would be to replace that tree outline with something else, I know how about a torch.

Though there is talk of DC planning a "wilson" - not just from Patterson, but also Hannan now as well.

Quote of the day 24th July 2020

I was moved to put the passage below forward as a quote today when I saw a horrible post on twitter from someone writing that it was "excellent" that someone who took a different view from her about Brexit had died. I won't write which way round it was so that all the Remain supporters can assume the post was from a Brexit fanatic welcoming the death of a remainer and all the Leavers can assume it was a Remainiac welcoming one less Brexiteer. There's been plenty of nasty stuff on both sides but if you catch anyone of your own viewpoint  posting something like that who might listen to you, please do call them out on it - and point out that they're giving everyone on your side of the argument a bad name.
