Helping charities to help the community
The Culture Secretary has announced that more than 8,000 small and medium charities across England have been awarded a share of £200 million, allowing them to continue their vital work helping our communities throughout the pandemic.
- This year has been hugely challenging for charities – as they continue to provide vital services at a time when many fundraising options have been stopped because of coronavirus.
- The government has now allocated the £200 million Coronavirus Community Support Fund to 8,250 small and medium charities, to help them meet increased demand as a result of coronavirus and continue their work supporting those in need. The money is part of our £750 million support package for charities launched earlier this year.
- Charities are there when we need them the most, and this emergency funding has kept their doors open during the pandemic, so they are able to support people both now and in the future.
