Keeping Ukraine's power plants functioning

The UK government has announced plans to help power Ukraine’s nuclear power plants with a £192 million loan guarantee, keeping the lights on across Ukraine despite Russian attacks on Ukraine's power infrastructure as part of Putin’s illegal and unprovoked war of aggression.

  • Britain will continue to stand with Ukraine as they repel Russian attacks and rebuild their country – including the energy infrastructure which Putin has targeted in his relentless attacks on Ukraine’s civilians.
  • That is why the UK government has announced plans to provide a £192 million loan guarantee which will support Ukraine’s nuclear power plants by helping a UK-based company supply Ukraine with uranium enrichment services, a vital part of nuclear fuel.
  • This support will strengthen Ukraine’s energy security and end their reliance on Russian supplies as we continue to stand with them as long as it takes to defeat President Putin’s barbaric aggression.
