New restrictions in parts of the North West and Yorkshire

An outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) has been identified in parts of Greater Manchester, East Lancashire, and West Yorkshire. The government and relevant local authorities are acting together to control the spread of the virus.  From 31 July 2020, if you live in these parts of Greater Manchester, East Lancashire and West Yorkshire, you should follow the rules described below when meeting people who you do not live with. Eat out to help out - reprise.

As I wrote here yesterday, more than 53,000 outlets across the United Kingdom have signed up to the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, as the government continues to do all it can to help our restaurants, cafes and bars recover. Employing more than a million people, Britain's thriving restaurants, cafes and bars have been hit particularly hard by the coronavirus which is why we want to encourage more customers back through their doors.  During August, Eat Out to Help Out stickers and posters will be displayed in the windows of establishments participating in our scheme across the country, where diners will benefit from a 50 per cent discount, up to a maximum of £10 per person from Mondays to Wednesdays, and diners will be able to locate the nearest participating venues closest to them using our online finder.  The Eat Out to Help Out scheme is designed to get more customers through the door – protecting jobs by giving businesses the confidence to retain and hire staff.
