EU trade negotiations

Britain's trade negotiations with the EU will shortly be coming to a conclusion after over nine months of tense talks.

  • As these talks enter the final days and hours, it is looking increasingly likely that the UK will be leaving on World Trade Organisation terms. Talks have become stuck due to unreasonable EU demands on areas such as subsidies and fisheries.
     
  • Every effort is being made to accommodate reasonable EU requests on the level playing field, but the EU are still struggling to get the flexibility needed from Member States and are continuing to make demands that are incompatible with our independence. The Prime Minister has been clear that we cannot sacrifice what it means to be a sovereign and independent nation in order to secure a deal.
     
  • If a suitable compromise cannot be reached, Britain will trade with the EU on World Trade Organisation terms from 1st January.

It's ok, a new strain of the virus came along just in time to deflect headlines on that train wreck, how convenient.

also its deflected other news such as the Immunisation passports we are absolutely and deffinitly not having, well here is a contract thats been awarded to produce them

I don't think the government or anyone else will regard their being forced by the latest medical evidence to clamp down even more strongly on millions of people in the capital and the South East and wreck everyone's Christmas plans as particularly convenient.

It has indeed reduced the attention paid to the Brexit situation in the press, but not at a price anyone will have been happy to pay.

Every business that isnt allowed to open will just be gratefull to be allowed to open, this is just too damned convenient for the trans end, it really is.

Im not one to join the tin hat brigade but recently lots of things just are not adding up, especially around covid.

Quote of the day 24th July 2020

I was moved to put the passage below forward as a quote today when I saw a horrible post on twitter from someone writing that it was "excellent" that someone who took a different view from her about Brexit had died. I won't write which way round it was so that all the Remain supporters can assume the post was from a Brexit fanatic welcoming the death of a remainer and all the Leavers can assume it was a Remainiac welcoming one less Brexiteer. There's been plenty of nasty stuff on both sides but if you catch anyone of your own viewpoint  posting something like that who might listen to you, please do call them out on it - and point out that they're giving everyone on your side of the argument a bad name.
