New Diagnostic centres
The government has announced the opening of seven new community diagnostic centres, in addition to 92 such centres already open, and working towards a target of 160 be 2025, helping to bust the Covid backlogs and reduce waiting times for patients.
- As we tackle the backlogs, the NHS is transforming how diagnostic services are delivered, so hospitals can focus on treating urgent patients.
- That is why a further seven new CDCs, are being opened, pushing forward with plans to roll out 160 such centres by 2025, which will help deliver 9 million tests, checks and scans a year - with over 1.7 million carried out by the 92 centres already open in local communities across England to date.
- By speeding up diagnosis times, these new CDCs will help tackle health disparities – making sure that people get treated as quickly as possible no matter where they live.
