School attendance
The government has announced new measures to support families with school attendance, ensuring every child in the country is accessing quality education.
- As we recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been helping pupils to catch up with missed education and tackle barriers to school attendance, ensuring every child gets access to a quality education.
- That is why the government has announced new measures to help schools work in partnership with councils and consider targeted family support where there are barriers to school attendance. This is alongside a three-year 1-2-1 attendance mentoring pilot to tackle the causes of non-attendance from this term.
- All the evidence shows that being in school is vital for helping pupils achieve their potential so we are doing everything we can to ensure they are attending school every day they possibly can.
