New community diagnostic centres announced
The government has announced thirteen new community diagnostic centres are opening across the country to deliver additional scans, tests and checks a year, as we deliver on our priority to cut NHS waiting lists.
- The pandemic put unprecedented strain on our health service, but we are working day in and day out to ensure the NHS has the resources it needs to cut waiting lists and ensure people get the care they need.
- That is why we are opening thirteen new community diagnostic centres, eight of which will be run by the independent sector and five NHS-run centres, which will deliver 742,000 additional scans, tests and checks a year for people across the country. We have committed £2.3 billion to deliver up to 160 community diagnostic centres by 2025.
- By rolling out more community diagnostic centres and maximising independent sector capacity, we will treat NHS patients more quickly, cut waiting lists and ensure people get the care the need.
