Except in the case of most UK newspapers. They tend to make you less informed than if you do read them. So I guess the man who can't read at least does not have to make an effort not to, so has a production time advantage.

I guess it's the same with certain ´news´ programmes, You are less informed if you do watch them. So it's better if you can't watch them rather than having to deliberately miss them.

Though the quote was looking for an advantage rather than a disadvantage of 'won't´ I thought it quite an important point to make that 'wont´ are actually at a disadvantage

I think if you go into too much detail on this one you will, to use a vernacular expression, "do your head in."

The key point, I think, is that someone who has the ability to read should have a huge advantage over someone who lacks that ability, but a person who makes little or no use of the ability throws that advantage away.

That is a far more accurate way to put the point but is also, sadly, much less memorable.
