Flanders and Swann Tribute - All Gaul

No Russian singing but here is a French "tribute" instead. Pleasantly surprised to find this on the YouTube since I have not heard it performed since well before the internet existed.

There are not many political satires, however, with humour which lasts as long as that in this one has - though certain aspects of British and French politics have changed completely and you do need a fairly good knowledge of 20th century history to get some of the jokes (not to mention enough classical knowledge to be familiar with the first line of Julius Caesar's Commentaries on the Gallic War, e.g. the statement that Gaul in the first century BC was divided into three parts.

For those who have such a knowledge of history, here are Flanders and Swan on General Charles De Gaulle! Full words are also available with this YouTube clip here.
