Corbyn pledges to scrap Trident "as soon as I can"

Memo to anyone in Copeland or Barrow in Furness who voted Labour because they believed the claims from local Labour candidates that official Labour policy is to keep Trident.

As Guido Fawkes reports here, the founder of the Glastonbury Festival, Michael Eavis says that  Jeremy Corbyn told him he will get rid of Trident “as soon as I can“.

Eavis says he asked Corbyn when he is going to be prime minister and that he replied: ‘In six months’. 
Eavis also said he asked Corbyn: “When are you going to get rid of Trident?”
“He said: ‘as soon as I can’.”

Quote of the day 24th July 2020

I was moved to put the passage below forward as a quote today when I saw a horrible post on twitter from someone writing that it was "excellent" that someone who took a different view from her about Brexit had died. I won't write which way round it was so that all the Remain supporters can assume the post was from a Brexit fanatic welcoming the death of a remainer and all the Leavers can assume it was a Remainiac welcoming one less Brexiteer.
