For clarification, this meeting is not making any decision on the amendments to the West Cumbria Mining Application. (There is a short summary of the current position with respect to that application in the officer report which is the last item on the agenda, but no discussion of the merits of the proposals, which at this stage might lead to accusations of predetermination.)
But it is the same committee which will be discussing those proposals, probably on 8th July.
Postscript One at 10.12 am on Tuesday 9th: the meeting started with a minute's silence in memory of the late Lawrence Fisher, who was a former chairman of the committee and who died on Sunday.
Postscript Two at 12.45 pm on Tuesday 9th: having watched the live broadcast I am adding a short report as another post.
