Football re-starts

Yesterday the Premier League resumed for the first time in one hundred days, and from today free-to-air games will begin on television, so that sports fans can enjoy watching the game safely from home.
  • Because of the sacrifices of the British people to help control the spread of the coronavirus, we are now in a position where some live sport can resume - provided strict social distancing measures are followed.

  • That is why yesterday, the Premier League was able to resume - and for the first time ever will air some of its games on free-to-air television, so that people can enjoy watching live sport without risking the spread of coronavirus in large crowds.

  • This step marks a significant milestone on our road to recovery, and will help to re-establish some normality in people’s day-to-day lives.
