73 years of the NHS

As we celebrate the 73rd birthday of our amazing NHS, Conservatives are determined to give it 100% support  and back the incredible staff who work in it - through the pandemic and for years to come.

  • Britain's NHS has been at the forefront of our response to the pandemic, and over the past 18 months, has confirmed what we always knew – that the NHS and its staff represent the very best of our nation.

  • We all welcome the tribute paid by Her Majesty the Queen in awarding the NHS the George Cross, recognising the courageous efforts of our healthcare workers, and we give thanks for everything the NHS has done for us not only last year but since its inception.

  • That is why Conservatives are committed to supporting our NHS as it rebuilds from the virus from the recovery of services to delivering more doctors and nurses; and in giving it the biggest cash boost in its history – investing an extra £33.9 billion a year by 2023-24, building 40 more hospitals and delivering more doctors and nurses, we will strengthen our NHS for years to come.

  • As we build back better, we will give our NHS the support it needs to continue to provide world-class care, so that it is always there for us when we need it.
