Sunday music spot: Allegri's "Miserere", the 1963 Kings College recording with Roy Goodman's treble solo

This is one of the best recordings of any piece of choral music ever sung by any choir, which is why this iconic performance is still being played 58 years after it was recorded.

This recording was mentioned on a BBC 4 programme on the history of choral music this afternoon, although they then went on to play a performance of the same piece by "The Sixteen" which was also good.

But this 1963 performance by the choir of Kings' College Cambridge really was quite exceptionally beautiful.
