It must be a priority to give every young person the best possible education – so they can do well at school and get better life chances.
New research published today shows the importance of this approach – with those who perform just one GCSE grade better than their counterparts across nine subjects being shown to earn on average over £200,000 more throughout their lives, establishing a direct link between GCSE attainment and an increase in lifetime earnings.
This shows the importance of giving every child, no matter their background, the best possible start in life – and the UK government will continue to invest in and level up education to achieve this goal.
