He has served as a County, City & District, Borough, Town and Parish councillor, and has also been a school governor and health authority member. He is currently an Egremont Town Councillor.
He lives and works in the North of England, particularly dividing his time between Cumbria and Yorkshire.

This year's day to a page Dilbert desk calendar had a theme which ran for a few days this month about the world reaching a "parody inversion point" where you cannot tell what is real and what is a parody.
At one point one of the characters in the strip makes an apparently ridiculous comment, and Dilbert throws up his hand in horror and says "Aargh - I can't tell if you're serious."
At the moment if someone leaves an anonymous political comment, it's just about impossible for anyone else to tell whether they are serious or not.
This doesn't just apply to Boris. I saw a tweet the other day from a Labour councillor suggesting that if Keir Starmer had any integrity he would resign. I think he was being ironic. But I'm not quite certain ...
