sorry off topic I know, but it seemed the best place at the time. Was just thinking that since the government can't deliver Brexit. How about we stop all MP's wages on 29th. Lets see how quickly Brexit happens then.

The government can deliver Brexit - "we leave on 29th March"

I am fairly sure that idea might be highly popular with many people (about 17.4 million to be precise.)

the whole situation is very frustrating. A lot of people tell me they want MPs to get on with it and deliver Brexit.

The government can make it happen on 29th March - nobody cares what MP's think, least of all Mrs May.

It's not so much what MPs think or say that matters but how they vote is critical - that's what being a parliamentary democracy means.

The government has asked - in line with the instruction from parliament which does matter - for a short delay and this has been granted.

So, subject to a one line amendment to the relevant law (in which the votes of MPs will again be something we DO have to care about) Britain will not be leaving the EU on 29th March. But there is a significant possibility that we will be leaving on 12th April without a deal or 22nd May with one.

And I am praying now that one of those two things happens because the country just cannot carry on like this.

MPs have repeatedly made clear they do not want Mrs Mays deal, bullying them in to 'voting for it' will only demonstrate what a weak, ineffective and integrity free parliamentary system we have.

MPs have repeatedly voted against just about everything except a delay. to get to a decision it will almost certainly be necessary to keep voting, including on options previously rejected, until they can agree on something.

This does not demonstrate anything about our parliamentary system - it merely demonstrates that choosing between three or more options none of which is the first preference of more than 50% of either MPs or indeed, it is my impression, the country as a whole is not a straightforward matter.
