The Economist on Jordan Peterson and the Lobster

This month The Economist magazine has published a piece about the controversial Canadian acadmic Jordan Peterson, who is one of the most outspoken opponents of what is sometimes called "political correctness" and one of the most frequent targets of "cancel culture" and his encounter with a student dressed as a lobster.

The really positive thing about the article which refers to a "free speech" dispute at Cambridge University is that it illustrates that

  • supporters of free speech at universities are fighting back, and
  • it is sometimes possible for intelligent compromises to be reached which let people express their concerns without suppressing those of others.

You may have to register with the Economist site to read the article, but it is accessible here.
