Removing barriers to trade

This week the International Trade Secretary announced we are cutting trade barriers, supporting the Prime Minister’s promise to grow the economy and deliver more jobs, higher pay, and better lives.

  • We are a trading nation at heart and by tradition, so we know that backing British businesses and promoting free trade is the surest way to prosperity that the world has.
  • That is why the government is removing 100 unnecessary trade barriers, growing UK exports every year so we are exporting over a trillion pounds of goods and services a year by 2030, making the UK the top investment destination in Europe, sealing high quality deals with India and CPTPP, and defending free trade to make the world more secure.
  • Backing British businesses at home and overseas will bring in investment to left-behind communities, delivering more jobs, higher pay, and better lives.
