The way forward on AI

Ahead of the Prime Minister's speech this morning and our world-leading AI summit next week, the government has published a paper on the capabilities and risks from frontier AI, leading the way on AI safety and securing future opportunities for economic growth.

  • AI will bring new knowledge, new opportunities for economic growth, new advances in human capability, but it also brings new dangers and new fears.
  • That is why the government has published a new paper into the capabilities and risks from frontier AI for the first time in advance of the Prime Minister’s speech this morning and the AI Safety Summit next week at Bletchley Park. This aims to build a shared global understanding of the risks posed by frontier AI. It forms part of our action to take long-term decisions for a brighter future, leading the way globally on AI safety.
  • We will continue to be at the forefront of global technological developments to make the most of the opportunities AI can bring to people up and down the country.
