Rishi in the Middle East

Today, the Prime Minister met Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog of Israel as he began a two-day visit to the region, reiterating our support for Israel in the wake of Hamas’s brutal terrorist attack and working to prevent further escalation of the conflict.

  • The attack on Al Ahli Hospital should be a watershed moment for leaders across the world to come together to avoid further dangerous escalation of conflict, we are ensuring the UK is at the forefront of that effort.
  • That is why the Prime Minister is beginning his two-day visit to the region by meeting with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the President, Isaac Herzog, while the Foreign Secretary is also currently in the region visiting Egypt, Turkey and Qatar as we work to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
  • Israel has the absolute right to defend itself and we will continue to offer our support in the wake of Hamas’s brutal terrorist attack while working to prevent further dangerous escalation of the conflict.
