Birmingham City Council

The Labour-run Birmingham City council has declared the local government equivalent of bankruptcy.

Government action to take over the running of councils should always be a last resort, but when a council is effectively bankrupt the threshold has been reached for such intervention. So this week the government has announced a five-year intervention at Labour-run Birmingham City Council, helping fix serious problems caused by Labour incompetence.
