Cumbria County Council?

Washington's comment is applicable to the need for vigilance in scrutinising all in positions of authority at whatever level.

Nobody ever scrutinises Cumbria County Council, or any of the Councils in Cumbria.

I would certainly encourage more scrutiny and better scrutiny of all of them, but the claim that none of the local residents or local press ever makes any attempt to scrutinise any of the councils in Cumbria is rather overstating the case.

Who scrutinised the plans for the Whitehaven Campus, certainly not the councillors.

I do not allow any posts on this blog which are potentially libellous. Please do not waste your time or mine by posting criticisms of named council employees or anyone else which might be actionable.

If you have evidence of wrongdoing there are proper mechanisms to do something about it by going to the police or using the county council complaints procedure, but making anonymous posts on my blog's comments section is not one of those mechanisms.

If you want to express your disagreement with the way a planning application or proposal was handled and make specific criticisms of the action taken I will allow that to be posted but not what I consider to be personal attacks on individuals.

How many people need to be killed before Government Guidance needs to considered never mind followed?

It would be very helpful if you could please either substantiate that comment or at least explain it. Heaven only knows the tragic events of the past few weeks demonstrate that there has been at least one major area of British policy - e.g. fire safety - over which we have experienced a major systemic failure so I do not for a moment imagine that any area of British life is so perfect as to be above criticism or scrutiny.

If you think there is a failure to follow safety standards affecting the plans for Whitehaven campus, or some other problem with it or anything else, by all means say so, but please bear in mind that nobody reading this is a mind reader. If you want anyone to take any notice of your concerns you need to explain what they actually are, preferably without any personal attacks mixed in.

Section 7

Willfully disregarded by the Council.

The report to Copeland BC's development control committee did point out that there is a footpath through the site and that it would require a separate application to divert this along an appropriate and agreed route. I will check the status of that application.
