Tackling Domestic Abuse
Today the government reintroduced the enhanced Domestic Abuse Bill to Parliament, to will empower and protect victims and survivors, while tackling perpetrators of this horrific crime at the earliest stage.
- Too many people have to live in fear of abuse – whether it be physical, emotional or economic – from those who should make them feel safe and loved.
- The landmark Domestic Abuse Bill will set out the first ever definition of domestic abuse in law, to make it easier to bring charges against perpetrators, as well as introducing new Domestic Abuse Protection Orders to quickly protect victims.
- The enhanced Bill will also require local authorities to provide support and ensure safe accommodation for victims and their children.
- Through this Bill, and by bolstering law enforcement, we will be able to keep millions of victims safe and ensure perpetrators of this horrific crime are brought to justice.
