The government's Winter Support Package

Yesterday the government unveiled a Winter Support Package to make sure children and families get the help they need. We all want to make sure no child goes hungry over the Christmas holidays so we can continue to improve life opportunities and level up across the country.

  • That’s why the government is continuing to provide financial support to local authorities with a £170 million COVID Winter Grant Scheme and tripling existing funding to up to £220 million for the Holiday Activities and Food programme.
     
  • In addition, the government is increasing the value of Healthy Start vouchers which support pregnant women or those with children under four who have a low income and are in receipt of benefits to buy milk, fresh fruit and vegetables and have pledged additional funding of £16m for food distribution charities.
