Quote of the day 23rd April 2018

"There is no indignity in being afraid to die. But there is a terrible shame in being afraid to live."

(Terry Nation, line spoken by a character called Alydon in the Doctor Who story "The Daleks")

this is another of those quotes that can be "over thought"

being afraid to live, well that could be on other people, for example bullied people who hang themselves and yes that is very true.

Others, for example Terry Pratchett, who was a long time alzheimer`s suffer, and campaigned to be allowed to die at a time that he figured would allow him to die with his dignity, I guess its different.

althogh again maybe I am overthinking it, Pratchett was not "afraid" to live, he just never wanted to after his condition got the better of him.

Terry Pratchett suffered from an unusual form of Alzheimers which did not prevent him from being able to speak and write about it. He was invited to speak at a Conservative conference about a decade ago on the subject: I attended and listened to that speech and it was very moving.

As you rightly say, he was a classic example of someone who was not afraid to live even in very trying circumstances.
