Eat Out to Help out

More than 53,000 outlets across the United Kingdom have signed up to the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, as the government continues to do all it can to help our restaurants, cafes and bars recover.

  • Employing more than a million people, Britain's thriving restaurants, cafes and bars have been hit particularly hard by the coronavirus which is why we want to encourage more customers back through their doors. 
     
  • During August, Eat Out to Help Out stickers and posters will be displayed in the windows of establishments participating in our scheme across the country, where diners will benefit from a 50 per cent discount, up to a maximum of £10 per person from Mondays to Wednesdays, and diners will be able to locate the nearest participating venues closest to them using our online finder. 
     
  • Our Eat Out to Help Out scheme is designed to get more customers through the door – protecting jobs by giving businesses the confidence to retain and hire staff.

Meanwhile in Manchester. You can't visit people from other households at home, or in their garden, but you can still go to the pub, but you can only go to the pub with your own household, be advised other households might be in the pub but you can still go in, and you can go to the hairdresser from a different houshold or to shops, parks and restaurants even though people from other housholds are there. You can meet people from other households indoors if they are there already, exept at home and you can go to the gym, but dont plan to go with other households, only go with the households that are there already.....................oh and we are going to **** out some more silly laws so the police can enforce it.

Cummings was one thing, and I know the handling of Covid in the UK in general has been dire. Thats why we have the 3rd worst global death rate. Though I have to ask, with this latest in Manchester, do the government really expect to be taken seriously?

They're trying to reduce the amount of social conact to stop COVID-19 taking off again in these areas without sending the economy crashing back down.

It is not an easy balance to strike.

But surely it is right to try to strike such a balance.

I was moved to put the passage below forward as a quote today when I saw a horrible post on twitter from someone writing that it was "excellent" that someone who took a different view from her about Brexit had died. I won't write which way round it was so that all the Remain supporters can assume the post was from a Brexit fanatic welcoming the death of a remainer and all the Leavers can assume it was a Remainiac welcoming one less Brexiteer. There's been plenty of nasty stuff on both sides but if you catch anyone of your own viewpoint  posting something like that who might listen to you, please do call them out on it - and point out that they're giving everyone on your side of the argument a bad name.
