The UK Internal market

Today, the government has published our plan on the UK Internal Market, outlining our plans to ensure continued seamless trading between all four nations of our union - boosting the powers of the devolved administrations and protecting jobs and livelihoods in every part of the UK.

  • The UK’s internal market has functioned seamlessly for centuries. As we exit the transition period in December, we will ensure the most successful union of nations in the world continues to thrive.

  • The government is publishing plans that will ensure businesses in all parts of the UK can continue to trade across the country as they do now, avoiding new burdens in order to protect jobs and support our recovery from coronavirus. This surge of power to the devolved nations marks both the return of powers from the EU and building on existing powers.

  • These proposals will ensure we can continue to cooperate across the UK to overcome coronavirus together and preserve the frictionless trade essential to our economic recovery.
