And helping the most vulnerable children

Yesterday, the government announced the creation of 3,000 places in new special free schools for children with special educational needs, ensuring children can receive the specialist support and equipment they need to thrive.
  • Now more than ever we need to make sure we are putting our most disadvantaged and vulnerable children first, including those with complex needs.

  • The government has approved 33 school trusts to run 37 new free schools which will be staffed by specialist teachers, with access to equipment to meet their pupil’s special education and communication needs. This will build on the success of the free schools programme to improve standards in special education.

  • Conservatives are delivering on our promise to reform our education system to ensure the next generation reach their full potential, with more funding per pupil in primary and secondary schools.
