Tom Harris says he is "giving up" on the Labour party

Former Labour minister Tom Harris expressed extreme and understandable irritation with a statement on Facebook last night with a statement that he was giving up on the party.

Apparently he didn't mean that he was going to resign just yet, but this is what he said:

“Shadow Minister Catherine West says she’ll consult “Stop the War” in the event of a vote on military action in Syria.
Jesus. Where to start?
You’ll be familiar with the phrase “Jump the Shark”; it’s when a TV series is widely acknowledged to have become so unbelievable that it’s obviously lost the plot. It derives from an episode of “Happy Days”, when Fonzie literally jumps a shark filled tank on his motorbike. Apparently.
So anyway, after 60 per cent votes for sure fire election losers, IRA-supporting Shadow Chancellors and Scottish Labour unnecessarily splitting the party on issues over which it has no responsibility, we have a Shadow Minister telling “Stop the War” – a madcap coalition of trots, Islamists and anti-west fury chimps – that Labour will consult them on how it will vote on Syria.
So that’s it. Labour has jumped the shark. It has gone from “a bit bonkers” to “irredeemable” in the space of a single day. 
And I give up. That’s it for me. Giving. Up. 
Goodbye.”

Understandable really.

Not one to nit pick (oh dear, did i just say that?)

but just wanted to point out to Mr Harris that Fonzie actually jumped the shark whilst on water skis.

I was moved to put the passage below forward as a quote today when I saw a horrible post on twitter from someone writing that it was "excellent" that someone who took a different view from her about Brexit had died. I won't write which way round it was so that all the Remain supporters can assume the post was from a Brexit fanatic welcoming the death of a remainer and all the Leavers can assume it was a Remainiac welcoming one less Brexiteer. There's been plenty of nasty stuff on both sides but if you catch anyone of your own viewpoint  posting something like that who might listen to you, please do call them out on it - and point out that they're giving everyone on your side of the argument a bad name.
