Extending Nightingale courts
The government has announced the extension of Nightingale Court rooms, securing speedier justice for victims as be build back fairer from the pandemic.
- Nightingale Courts continue to be a valuable weapon in the fight against the pandemic’s unprecedented impact on our courts, providing temporary extra capacity.
- That is why the government is extending 30 Nightingale Court rooms up and down the country, building on the raft of measures taken during the pandemic, such as removing the cap on Crown Court sitting days and increasing remote hearings to ensure victims get the speedy justice they deserve.
- Combined with the other measures we have taken, the justice backlog is beginning to drop in the Crown Court, and this decision will ensure victims are put first as we continue to address the impact of Covid-19.
