Pope tells Russia: the conflict in Ukraine IS a war

"In Ukraine rivers of blood and tears are flowing. This is not just a military operation but a war which sows death, destruction and misery."

That was Pope Francis's message in his weekly address to crowds gathered in St. Peter's Square. He repeated his appeal for peace, the creation of humanitarian corridors and a return to negotiations.

"In that martyred country the need for humanitarian assistance is growing by the hour,"

added the head of the catholic church, speaking from a window overlooking St Peter's square.

"Let common sense prevail, let us return to the respect of international law."

The Pope did not mention Russia or the president of the Russian Federation by name, but he hardly needed to: nearly everyone in the world must be aware who is trying to suppress any comment describing Russian military intervention in Ukraine as a "War" or "invasion" and is putting forward the ridiculous delusion that it is just a "special military operation."
