It's going to be a dirty campaign ...

As I've previously explained on this blog, one of the worst election tactics, and one which I detest whoever does it, is to make political capital out of attacking someone through their children.

There may be some excuse if the parent attacked has done something illegal or dishonest, or blatantly hypocritical such as attacking someone else for doing exactly the same thing they are doing themselves, but otherwise getting at your opponents for trying to do the best for their children is a  disgusting trick.

And it is one which some of the least attractive figures in the Labour camp are obviously salivating at the chance to use as David Cameron's daughter approaches secondary transfer.

As the Spectator reported this week at

http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/steerpike/2015/03/tories-detect-campbells-hand-in-latest-education-attacks/

before a decision has even been made what school she will go to, Alistair Campbell's partner Fiona Millar is already tweeting her speculations about what applications the Camerons might or might not have made.

Oh, brave new world, where using a ten-year-old girl as a political target is deemed acceptable.

Its not so much the campaigning that is the problem.

Now, the way I see things at the moment. I may well turn out, hold my nose and vote. Not really because I want a Conservative MP, and certainly not because i want a conservative Majority in west minster, with David Cameron as PM again. In fact that is possibly the second last thing I want.
the last thing I want is a labour majority or Labour/SNP coalition with Ed Milliband as PM.

Not exactly a good reason to go and vote to give DC and his Tory party ulitmate power for another 5 years is it?

there is a real problem with the government of this nation, and if you think for one second that David Cameron/ Ed Milliband / Nick Clegg / Alec Salmond / Nigel Farage are the answer, then you really have not figured out what that problem is yet. Best sit down and re-think it through.

My wife persuaded me to watch "Hobson's choice" on Youtube a few years ago.

It's a great film. I'm thinking about getting the Blu-Ray version which recently came out.

Politics is a matter of choices and it is all too often a case of deciding which option you like least.

Never seen the film version. We done the book in GCSE English at school and went to see a live performance of the play. But thanks, will certainly check out the film
