Marie Simpson RIP
Marie Simpson, who for many years was a stalwart of Copeland Conservative Association, Copeland Conservative Ladies Luncheon Club, and of the Rowrah area, has died at the age of 81.
I first met Marie when she was on the selection committee which interviewed me for the Conservative nomination in Copeland for the 2005 general election.
She was a very formidable lady who worked hard for the causes she believed in.
Marie ran the local stores in Rowrah for many years with her late husband Ken who died in 2009, was a committed fundraiser for MacMillan nurses and for Hospice at Home, and fought to retain Rowrah surgery.
I will remember her as a loyal friend.
Rest in Peace.
