Sunday Music Spot: Charles Wood's "O thou the central orb"
At a dinner last night I was seated near to someone who I had not met since we were at school nearly forty years ago, and we did not at first recognise each other until the conversation turned to music and to people and musical activities who we had both known well and in which we had both been involved.
One of the events we discussed was a concert well over forty years ago, in the rehearsals for which I first encountered two or three of my favourite pieces of music. The conversation brought back some very happy memories.
One of them was of Wood's "O thou the central orb of righteous love" which was here sung at the celebrations of Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee.
