CCG meets tiomorrow in decision day for local NHS

The NHS Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group board will be meeting at the Workington Oval tomorrow (10am on Wednesday 8th March) to decide what changes to NHS services in West, North and East Cumbria they should proceed with.

Any material change in circumstances will require Department of Health approval.

I hope that the CCG will listen to the public and keep consultant-led maternity from WCH as 91% of those who responded to the consultation wanted. If they don't the community must come together and lobby government ministers to reject any proposal to downgrade services.

Don't have a stroke in west Cumbria, the Trust won't be responding FAST.

They are proposing to keep 24-hour Accident and Emergency at WCH. I understand that anyone who has a stroke in West Cumbria and needs urgent treatment will be taken there first.

After they have been given emergency care and stabilised, however, it is likely that they would be moved to the specialist stroke centre to be established in Carlisle.
