This week the government announced new plans to level up opportunities for every child, including a new register of children not in school, making sure no child can fall through the cracks.
While the vast majority of home education is done well, there has been a rise in children not being educated in school, particularly in light of the pandemic.
That is why a local authority register of children not in school will be created, making sure that councils know where every child is being educated and that it is of the right quality. the government will also provide greater support to schools on behavioural guidance to create calm and safe learning environments, and open up applications for 300 projects in our school rebuilding programme.
Education is at the heart of this government’s plans to level up and these measures will move Britain closer to making sure that every child gets the start in life they deserve.
