Defending British democracy from external threats
Earlier this week, the first meeting of the Defending Democracy Taskforce took place, protecting the democratic integrity of the UK from foreign interference.
- State threats are growing and changing, and it is the first duty of a Government to defend the freedoms that guarantee our prosperity and sovereignty.
- That is why yesterday the Defending Democracy Taskforce met for the first time, bringing together experts from across Government and the intelligence community to discuss threats to the UK’s democracy – including foreign interference in elections, disinformation campaigns, and physical and cyber threats.
- This taskforce will help to protect the integrity of our democracy, ensuring the UK remains a free and prosperous nation.
