Investing to solve health challenges

Today the government announced new investment of £113 million to fund research into health challenges, using the Vaccine Taskforce model, unlocking ground-breaking new treatments to improve treatment and save lives.

  • Conditions such as cancer and obesity prevent people leading long, healthy lives and cost the NHS billions of pounds every year.
  • That is why the government will be investing £113 million to fund ground-breaking research into cancer, obesity, mental health and addiction – using the Vaccine Taskforce model as a blueprint to unlock the next generation of medicines and diagnostics.
  • This funding will improve outcomes for patients, ease existing pressures on the system and ensure that we are amongst the first to benefit from medical breakthroughs.
