Lib/Dem peer defects to Conservatives
A former Lib/Dem peer has joined the Tories over the party’s refusal to accept the Brexit vote, according to a report in the Sunday Telegraph.
Baroness Manzoor, who led the Lib Dem attacks over tax credit cuts, accused the party of hypocrisy for calling itself “democratic” but not accepting the referendum result.
She said Theresa May’s vision of a country that “works for everyone” played a part in her decision to join the Conservatives.
I voted Remain, and I wish the country had, too. But it didn't and nobody who calls themselves a democrat can ignore the result of the referendum or try to prevent Britain leaving the EU.
