London Terror Attack

For the third time in a few weeks supporters of a twisted and perverted version of one of the world's great religions, a religion whose very name means "Peace" and whose genuine adherents call their God "The Compassionate, the Merciful" have shattered the peace of Britain and shown a complete lack of compassion or mercy to their innocent victims.

At the time of posting this I understand that seven innocent people have been killed in central London after three men drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge and launched a knife attack on people enjoying a Saturday night out in pubs and restaurants around Borough Market.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed seven people had died and 48 required hospital treatment.
In addition, three suspected attackers were shot dead within eight minutes of officers receiving the first incident report. (Eyewitnesses confirmed that police shouted a warning before opening fire and gave the suspected terrorists the opportunity to surrender.)

Two of my former friends from University, two thoroughly good people, were caught up in last night's events, one of them being a witness to the attack on London Bridge. Fortunately neither of them were hurt.

Theresa May said: "As a mark of respect the two political parties have suspended our national campaigns for today.

"But violence can never be allowed to disrupt the democratic process, so those campaigns will resume in full tomorrow and the general election will go ahead as planned on Thursday."

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said he was "absolutely shocked and horrified" at the attack, but "if we allow these attacks to disrupt our democratic process then we all lose".
