Seventy years of service

It is seventy years today since Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ascended to the throne - the only monatch in British history to reach her platinum jubilee.

Prime Ministers and other servants of the people have come and gone: Her Majesty's record of dedication and service has been examplary.

Here is the letter she released today marking the occasion - and promising again to continue to work for the people, describing herself as "your servant."

Lots of people sign themselves that way - few do as much as she has to demonstrate that she means it.
