Total national public investment on improving flood defences in the last two parliaments and proposed for the present one:
2005-2010 (Labour) - £1.5 billion spent on improving flood defences
2010-2015 (Coalition) - £2 billion spent improving flood defences
2015-2020 (Conservative) Original plan - £2.3 billion to be spent improving flood defences
Budget 2016 - £700 million added
2015-2020 (Conservative) Updated plans - £3 billion to be spent improving flood defences
£58 million of the extra £700 million will come to Cumbria, making a total of £132 million investment on improved flood defences in the county in this parliament.
