AUKUS

Yesterday the Prime Minister, along with the leaders of Australia and the United States of America, reaffirmed our commitment to the AUKUS partnership – ensuring Britain remains at the forefront of international action in protecting the rule of law, human rights, and peaceful resolution of disputes.

  • Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine has shown callous disregard for human rights, the rule of law, and the peaceful resolution of disputes, so it is right that a Global Britain remains united with our international partners in protecting these values.
  • That is why yesterday the Prime Minister – along with the leaders of Australia and the United States of America – reaffirmed our commitment to the AUKUS partnership, committing to sharing new naval technology, deepening our cooperation on cyber and intelligence capabilities, and commencing trilateral cooperation on hypersonic and counter-hypersonic weaponry.
  • These commitments will ensure security and stability both at home and in the Indo-Pacific region, bringing peace and prosperity to residents across the world.
  • I particularly welcome the commitment to co-operate on how to deal with Hypersonic weapons - we cannot allow leaders like Putin to think that they have an offensive weapon we cannot match.
